ADHD Diagnosis Process for Children​
  1. Concerns Noticed

    • Parent, teacher, or GP identifies symptoms of ADHD (inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity).

  2. GP or School Referral

    • Parent or school contacts the GP to discuss concerns.

    • GP may refer the child to a paediatrician, CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service), or a specialist ADHD clinic.

  3. Initial Assessment

    • Screening questionnaires for parents and teachers: At BrightPath Neuro Assessment Services, we understand that teachers and parents have enough on their plates. That’s why we utilise the Q-Global platform for ADHD assessments. Once registered, teachers, parents, and the individual being assessed will be sent a link to complete the necessary questionnaires. If you're not affiliated with a school or college, this step won't be necessary.

    • This streamlined process ensures efficient and accurate assessments without adding extra burdens to busy educators and caregivers.

    • We will collects family history and developmental information from yourself or an Adult - PLEASE have this information ready we will do this over the phone or face to face and will be booked once we have the necessary evidence.- Download Form 

  4. Specialist Assessment

    • A specialist conducts a thorough evaluation, which may include:

      • Medical history and family interviews.

      • Behavioural observations.

      • Developmental history.

      • Cognitive and educational testing.

  5. Formal Diagnosis

    • The specialist uses DSM-5 or ICD-11 diagnostic criteria to determine if the child has ADHD. (How we assess)

  6. Treatment and Support

    • If diagnosed, a treatment plan is developed, which may include:

      • Behavioural interventions.

      • Psychoeducation for the family.

      • Medication (if appropriate).

      • Educational support and possibly an EHCP. (This is what we mean)

  7. Follow-up and Monitoring
